Libra has been criticised for what you could be forgiven for thinking is the first ever offensive tampon commercial ever.
Commercials for tampons and pads have been pissing me off for years with their condescending sexist shit. Those ones where a man is actually advertising the products, symbolising male control over female reproduction, are really annoying. Remember the one where the boyfriend amuses himself by sticking pads all over his body and playing games? Or the one where the boyfriend lets the cat play with the tampons and the silly woman doesn’t know where they all went?
Anyways…none of that matters. All that matters now is that a transwoman has been condescended to.
I hardly have the energy to critique this latest in talking down to women, but hello, not all women are slavish adherents to femininity practices; not all women menstruate; and not all women exist in a perpetual state of catty competitiveness with ALL other women. What this commercial seeks to do is reinforce a negative female stereotype and exploit divisions between women. Why aren’t the fauxfeminists noticing this? Why not critique the sexism rather than make it all about transwomen?
Never mind.
Here I was thinking they were upset that the passing myth was shattered when lining one up side by side with a FAB, the M2T had 20x more make up on too, and still couldn’t pass as a FAB.
But, the twanzphobia is, apparently, pointing out that M2Ts cannot menstruate (which is in itself shattering the myth that no, they are not exactly like FABs).
Oh that is such an appropriate python clip. At the time I thought they were ripping the piss out of MRAs but maybe they were even more insightful.
Why the fuck is it offensive to suggest that men can’t menstruate?
More importantly, why are so-called feminists going along with this “emperor’s new vagina” propaganda?
The lack of responsibility being shown by MRAs and the perpetual victim mentality of many MEN is quite frankly sickening.
