Buffy tells Edward Cullen that stalking ain’t such a good look.

For anyone who was as horrified as I was at the way Twilight reinforced the paradigm of controlling and oppressive/dangerous behaviour within het relationships (see some earlier post that I penned after watching the movie) by romanticising and normalising stalking and violence, Buffy feels our pain.

Thanks to girlie jones.

That was pretty awesome, I wish that Twilight had been like that instead of idealizing Edward’s terrifying behavior.

Yeah, it definitely left itself wide open to parody. I’ve noticed even a lot of the fans of Twilight kinda don’t like Bella. Scares me that a woman wrote this shit. Thank sister.

That made me want to watch Buffy and NEVER see Twilight. Those clips are freaky, esp. as a person who has been stalked before. I can’t believe that crap’s being sexualized and presented as “hot.” Thanks, Spiders.

PS Can’t wait to catch up on the rest of the blog!

It is pretty effing disturbing that very young women are wearing “I heart Edward” t-shirts. He wants to eat her! Literally. I takes that power imbalance inherent within het partnerships and to a whole new level. Any of your students fans of it, Marie?

  6. Linda Radfem Says:

It! It takes the power imbalance, damnit.

Ha ha! This is great! I like crossover fanfic generally, and that video sure gives Edward what he deserves.

Thanks for visiting, abfh. I’ve been reading your site, great stuff there.
